Sensitive Skin Approved Cleansers

Oh, the joys of having sensitive skin. Redness, breakouts, blotchiness and even skin tightness. If you experience these symptoms, like me, you’ve come to the right place!  Here are a few of the cleansers I’ve found to be sensitive skin friendly.

The Body Shop Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter | Beautycounter Nourishing Cream Exfoliator | Burt’s Bees Eye Makeup Remover | Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser | Yes To Cucumbers Gentle Milk Cleanser | The Body Shop Aloe Calming Cream Cleanser | Yes To Tomatoes Activated Charcoal Bar Soap

The Body Shop Sumptuous Cleansing Butter: I am obsessed with this stuff. Let’s start with its lush texture. As the name suggests, it is a butter that melts once it hits your skin. It turns into a rich oil that immediately starts dissolving makeup and impurities. It is smooth, light and non-greasy. It releases the most delicate scent of chamomile as it gently removes makeup. I use my fingertips to rub it all over my face and break down my makeup. It works wonders on mascara, eyeliner and liquid lipstick. The best part is that it leaves my skin feeling soft and hydrated. Afterwards, when I tone, there is no trace of makeup on my cotton round. Pretty amazing, huh?

The Body Shop Aloe Calming Cream Cleanser: I use this cream cleanser in the morning to prepare my skin for the day. It leaves me feeling fresh-faced sans dryness or tightness. It is fragrance, alcohol and color free making it perfect for sensitive skin. The aloe definitely adds a soothing quality that you can feel immediately when massaged in. Use this if you have sensitive and/or dry skin. You’ll thank me later.

Yes To Cucumbers Gentle Milk Cleanser: Let me start by saying that I adore Yes To products. They are performance driven, highlight natural ingredients and are cruelty free. Oh, and you can find them at your favorite drugstore. The cucumber collection is my go-to since it is sensitive skin approved. This milk cleanser has a gel-like texture and doesn’t foam. It has a refreshing cucumber scent, but it is not overwhelming. I massage one pump on to my face with warm water. I like to use it in the morning or in the evening when I don’t have on a lot of makeup. It works pretty well at removing face makeup, but does require a little more elbow grease to remove eye makeup. It leaves my skin feeling smooth, clean and soft. Not too shabby for a drugstore cleanser.

Yes To Tomatoes Activated Charcoal Bar Soap: Initially, I was hesitant to try this because it is a bar soap. I’m definitely not a bar soap kind of gal, but I was intrigued by the detoxifying qualities the bar had to offer. At $4.99,  I thought, what the heck, lets give it a shot. I was pleasantly surprised with how this soap left my skin feeling. Clean, smooth and soft. Slightly tight, but not overly dry. I only use it once a week to detox my skin and wash away impurities. I think this is a great place to start if you’ve been wanting to get in on the charcoal craze.

Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser: You can’t tell from the pictures, but this bottle is almost empty. That’s because it is  pretty amazing at deep cleaning skin without stripping it dry. The creamy gel formula contains skin conditioners along with gentle cleaning agents to create a powerful cleansing combo. I like to use it at night to gently break down makeup and the day’s stresses. I find that it removes everything, except moisture. My skin feels bouncy and soft afterwards (if that makes sense). I ordered the Phase 1 Set to get a good feel for the brand and how the products perform. I definitely don’t regret it.

*Bonus Goodies for Cleaning Up Sensitive Skin*

Burt’s Bees Eye Makeup Remover Pads: I grabbed these on a whim one day at the drugstore. I normally don’t purchase eye makeup remover since I don’t use waterproof mascara. Boy, was I missing out. These adorable little honeycomb shaped pads get off whatever residue is left after cleansing. No tugging, pulling, dryness or stinging.

Beautycounter Nourishing Cream Exfoliator: Another solid product from Beautycounter. Typically I wouldn’t go for a physical exfoliant since my skin doesn’t play well with harsh ingredients. However, this one uses jojoba beads to gently and effectively scrub off all the gross, dry skin. I’m left with polished skin that I can be proud of.

FreshFace Makeup Remover Towel: The newest addition to my nighttime routine -microfiber towels. These little wonders remove makeup and even gently exfoliate. I like to use them at the very end of cleansing when I’ve rinsed a little product off and my face is still wet. I gently scrub my face using small circular motions. They work exceptionally well at removing eye makeup. Perfect for those nights when you go crazy with the mascara. Pick them up here.
